ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Holly Rapp, MT(ASCP)SBB, CQA(ASQ), CMQ/OE
AABB Quality Consultant

Holly graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV with a degree in Medical Technology. Her blood banking career started at Ohio Valley Medical Center located in Wheeling, WV. With more than 40 years of experience, she has served in hospital transfusion services, at blood centers, and as the Director of Accreditation and Quality for AABB. She is currently mostly retired, enjoying the beach and golf life in Myrtle Beach, SC, but continues to serve the industry through consulting work.

Jack has more than 30 years of experience working in hospitals, blood centers and testing laboratories in transfusion medicine and infectious disease testing. He retired from the US Air Force Biomedical Corps as a Lt Colonel, and subsequently was Laboratory Director and CEO of the American Red Cross National Testing Laboratory in Portland, OR. Until recently, he served as Vice President of Operations for one of the largest blood and plasma testing laboratories in the US, which provides testing for blood centers and major drug therapeutic manufacturers. Recently, he opened Community Labs, San Antonio, a non-profit laboratory which provides free and low-cost PCR-based COVID testing for asymptomatic people in and around San Antonio, TX. Jack received the ASCP Member Excellence in Management Award in 2017 and is currently a member of the George Washington University School of Business Customer Experience Program Advisory Council..

Christine Bales, BS, MT, I(ASCP), CQA(ASQ)
AABB Vice President, Consulting & Global Services

Christine Bales, AABB Vice President Consulting and Global Services serves as a Technical Assistance expert in Quality Management Systems for Blood Centers and Transfusion Services. She designs implementation models to be used as roadmaps to Blood Donor Centers and Transfusion Services facility accreditations. Christine has experience as an Assessor and a CAP inspector. She is a certified Quality Auditor, CQA (ASQ). Ms. Bales has over 20 years of management experience in laboratory medicine, blood donor centers and hospital-based transfusion services. During Christine’s years as CEO and senior management she led organizations through strategic planning activities, process improvement activities, and facility accreditation processes. Christine holds a Certificate in Organizational Leadership from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University and certifications in Medical Technology and Immunology from ASCP. She is a member of the AABB (American Association of Blood Banks), ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) and ASQ (American Society for Quality).
