Millions of people the world over care deeply about the environment, and many of us do our bit to live sustainably. But not so many of us actively speak up about it – whether that’s just chatting with friends or doing much more.

We really need to be talking about climate change and the reasons it matters so much. Why? To put and keep it at the top of the world’s agenda – and to inspire and influence others to make changes in their own lives.

Get the word out

If you want to speak out about the environment, it’s important to know your stuff. So, if you need to, do a bit of homework first – and be careful to choose reputable sources of information, like NASA or the World Wildlife Fund.

  • Here are some ways you can help spread the word:
  • Share information on social media
  • Join in rallies, marches and protests
  • Write to your local politicians and lobby government for change
  • Have honest conversations with your friends and family
  • Set up a community event focusing on climate change
  • Hand out leaflets and flyers
  • Fundraise for an environmental cause
  • Create a blog focusing on climate change and sustainability

It’s also important to be consistent and committed – it’s hard to influence others if you’re not walking the walk yourself. If we’re all more vocal about what we can do to fight climate change, it will help build the momentum for change and help us make the most of the short window of opportunity we have. Time is running out.
