Indoor plants aren’t just a pleasure to look at – they’re also good for your mental and physical health. Having a few potted plants in your home or on your desk at work can be therapeutic.
For example, you might:
- Feel more positive and happier
- Be less stressed and more relaxed
- Have lower blood pressure
- Recover faster from illness
- Be less tired and have fewer headaches
- Tolerate pain better
Popping a plant or two on your desk is said to help make you more focused, creative, and productive – all good things!
Healthy plants, healthy you
Plants also release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, which can freshen air and remove toxins. Types that are particularly good for this are Boston ferns, spider plants, and rubber trees. These types are also all pretty easy to keep healthy – great if you haven’t had much success in keeping house plants in the past or you don’t think you’re very green-fingered!
Most indoor plants don’t like direct sun, so keep this in mind when choosing where to put them. And remember that most people kill their plants by overwatering them, so be sparing with the watering can.
For a happier, healthier environment, it really is a good idea to have a bit of greenery around, so why not bring some new pot plants onto your desk or into your home?
